ORIGIN: Colombia
PRODUCER: Rodrigo Oyuela - Villamaría
REGION: Tolima
GROWING ALTITUDE: 1800 m
VARIETAL: Pink Bourbon
PROCESS: washed
ROAST PROFILE: Light (filter roast)
In the heart of the Cañón de las Hermosas, Rodrigo Oyuela has built a legacy rooted in both tradition and innovation. As the founder and president of COAGROHERMOSAS, he is known not only for his leadership and agronomic skill, but also for the way he brings his family into every step of the coffee journey.
His farm, Villamaría, represents years of resilience and determination. After selling earlier farms due to low yields, Rodrigo secured Villamaría through an agreement that allowed him to pay for the land with each harvest. This challenge pushed him to refine his farming practices and explore exotic varieties, leading him to the Pink Bourbon now thriving on his 33.5-hectare farm. Today, Villamaría holds 38,000 coffee trees, with Pink Bourbon at the center of his vision for quality.
Rodrigo’s process reflects his meticulous care and respect for the bean. Cherries are harvested only at peak ripeness, then allowed to rest for 12 to 14 hours to enhance depth and complexity. After pulping, the beans ferment for 22 hours in their own mucilage and honey-water before being washed twice in clean water.
Finally, the coffee is slow-dried for 10 to 15 days in a Casa-Elda, a traditional sliding-roof structure that allows him to carefully control exposure to the sun and preserve clarity in the cup.
The result is a Pink Bourbon that bursts with bright res apple and lively citrus fruit, carried by a delicate, tea-like structure. The cup lingers with sweetness and closes on a smooth caramel finish—a reflection of Rodrigo’s patience, precision, and unwavering dedication to his craft.
