Clean and elegant notes of dried apricot and lemongrass.

Widely held as the birthplace of arabica coffee, coffees from Gedeb are a shining example of the delicate florals and stone fruit complexity that this species is capable of. This lot comes from the well-known Banko Gotiti washing station, it has clean and elegant notes of jasmine and lemongrass, and a bright acidity of passion fruit and dried apricot.

ORIGIN: Ethiopia
PRODUCER: Banko Gotiti Washing Station
REGION: Yirgacheffe, Gedeb
GROWING ALTITUDE: 1900 - 2200 m.
VARIETAL: Heirloom
PROCESS: Washed
ROAST PROFILE: Medium (espresso roast).

Banko Gotiti is a small town in the south of Gedeo County in Yirgacheffe. The washing station processes cherries from about 2,000 smallholder farmers in the surrounding area who contribute fruit from small single-hectare coffee gardens.

After harvesting, the cherries are sorted and then washed, before fermenting in tanks for 48 to 72 hours. The coffee beans are dried for between 7 and 10 days, depending on the weather, on raised beds, with the humidity of the beans monitored throughout the drying process.
