This recipe explains the classic recipe in reverse Aeropress method. There are many alternatives, as every barista has its own version. If you want to learn more about Aeropress, we go more in depth in our filter workshops.
Weigh out 17g of whole bean coffee and grind medium-fine. Insert the paper filter in the Aeropress's plastic cap and rinse it with hot water to get rid of the papery taste.
Assemble your Aeropress and place it inverted on your scale and tare the weight. The numbers should appear upside-down. Add your ground coffee.
Start your timer and quickly pour the hot water into the Aeropress until it reaches 200 grams. We use a water to coffee ratio of 12:1, for every 1 gram of coffee, use 12 grams of water. Don't hesitate to play with the ratio's and adapt according to your personal preference.
Wait 40 sec and then stir the coffee gently a couple of times.
Then fasten the plastic cap, ensuring it locks tightly.
After 1:45 minutes, flip the Aeropress in one smooth movement atop your cup. The numbers are now readible. Start slowly pushing down for 20 seconds, until you hear a hissing sound. This means there is no more water to push trough the aeropress.
Unscrew the cap and pop out the filter and puck by pushing the aeropress until the end. Pour it in your cup.
